Insiders behind the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel have confirmed that Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in the franchise reboot which will be shooting in Chicago this summer. Director Zack Snyder called Adams from Paris, where he was promoting his new film Sucker Punch, to offer the 36-year-old Oscar nominee the role. He said in an interview with the LA Times that Lois Lane was a “linchpin” to the film and that the film would updating the Depression-era character for 2012, adding:

”There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

Details are still sketchy on the plot for Superman: Man of Steel, but Adams, who has played both strong (as the athletic Charlene in The Fighter) and naïve (as time-traveling princess Giselle in Enchanted), certainly has the versatility to pull it off. Not to mention her big-eyed beauty and gorgeous ginger hair send us up, up and away!
